Delmarva Veteran Builders hired for Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

St. Michaels, Md. – January 28, 2021 –Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB) has been hired by Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum to renovate and expand an existing warehouse key in maintaining their collection intake and storage roles at the organization.

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s (CBMM) mission “is dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and culture of the entire Chesapeake Bay region, and making this resource available to all.” Since 1965, CBMM has played a vital role in the history and culture of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The project will include renovations and an expansion to their existing library and storage facility on the southwest side of the campus. The existing two buildings will form as one by the completion of the project. With many other initiatives in motion at CBMM, this project will provide the space and support for the team to continue its growth.

As a Navy veteran, I live all things on the water. This truly is a dream project and will be more of an adventure than a job. I look forward to helping the Maritime Museum continue its growth on the shore and am excited for this new relationship.
— Doug Druschel, DVB Superintendent
CBMM has worked very hard to get to this point, and we couldn’t be happier working with Delmarva Veteran Builders to finally be ready to break ground on the expansion of our library and collections storage facility. This expansion allows us to better preserve and interpret the more than 80,000 Chesapeake Bay-related objects in our collection, and also to increase accessibility to them.
— Kristen Greenaway, President of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

This project is part of CBMM’s overall Master Plan, which was first announced in 2018. As a way to increase its level of engagement in the community, CBMM is working toward expanding its core offerings and increasing public access to the objects in its collection. The value CBMM places on not only preserving the past of the Chesapeake Bay region, but helping to enhance its future, is an attribute DVB is humbled to be a part of.

DELMARVA VETERAN BUILDERS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF COMMERCIAL WASTE COMPANY

TrashforcePatch_wide.jpg

Salisbury, Md. – December 23, 2020 –Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB) is excited to announce the launch of its new entity, Delmarva Veteran Trashforce (DVT). DVT will hold a mission similar to its notable counterpart; employ veterans while being active in the community, building its employees both professionally and personally and delivering ‘next-level’ customer service in a commercial waste company. Simply put, the mission statement adopted by DVT is “to provide second chances to veterans in our community, by empowering them with a career in a growing industry, while serving our clients as a commercial waste company”.

Despite 2020 being a difficult year, founder Chris Eccleston believed the timing was perfect to launch the new company. The core of DVT’s mission is to provide second chances to veterans and in the midst of the pandemic Eccleston believed now was the best time to give hope.

During the start of the pandemic, Chris rallied his local business owners with the empowering motto, “Be the Buffalo!”. This slogan was adopted by the City of Salisbury Mayor, Jake Day in COVID related communications to the Salisbury business community. The phrase inspires everyone to ‘charge the storm’ –  Like the buffalo, instead of avoiding challenges, put your head down and ride into the storm.

DVT will employ both veterans and civilians that display the same grit that embodies the DVB spirit. Trash collection and disposal continues to be one of the most essential services as the world modernizes. DVT plans to celebrate and elevate its employees as respected leaders in the community interested in changing the narrative while inspiring others to greatness.

Oak Ridge Baptist Church

Salisbury, Md. – December 8, 2020 – Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB), the region’s only commercial construction firm dedicated to bringing employment to U.S. Armed Forces Veterans, announced it has been hired to construct the new worship center at Oak Ridge Baptist Church (ORBC) in Salisbury, MD.

The 24,906 square foot project will be built onto the existing 45,000 square foot religious facility located at Oak Ridge Commons. There are minor alterations to the existing building where the existing and new will connect. This addition will allow ORBC to grow their congregation/worship size in addition to their children’s ministry.

Oak Ridge Baptist Church is excited to start the construction of our new 1,000 seat worship center. We have been dreaming about this building since 2010 and have worked hard to get to this point. Our building project is called Build The Dream. Our Dream of providing a place where community can come and find Hope and Healing for Hearts and Home. This new worship center will not only provide a place for adult worship services but has been designed to support our online community as well. The new adult worship facility is Phase 1 of BTD construction. Phase 2 involves renovating and expanding our family ministry space for a modern, engaging environment for the children.

We are excited to partner with DVB. In the bidding process we were clear that we weren’t just looking for a builder but wanted a partner to join the Oak Ridge team in accomplishing our DREAM. From bidding day to getting the project started, DVB has done just that …. Become part of our family. They have helped us value engineer Phase 1 in order to keep the project on budget and even suggested ways to bring the church family into the process. We are looking forward to working with DVB in helping us Build our DREAM to better serve the community.

Delmarva Veteran Builders launch new tagline and ad campaign.

DVB celebrated with its employees on Friday before the public premiere

Salisbury, MD. – September 21, 2020 – Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB), the region’s only commercial construction firm dedicated to bringing employment to U.S. Armed Forces Veterans, announces its new tagline, Grit Leads to Greatness

A year ago, DVB embarked on a mission: “How do we celebrate and ignite the veteran spirit that embodies our company?”

Searching for inspiration, DVB turned to the story of America’s “Greatest Generation” and their remarkable impact on human history. To get through the war, average men and women were asked to perform incredible tasks and sacrifice for the greater good. DVB identified qualities from that generation everyone should strive for; resilience, leadership, work ethic, tenacity, integrity and a service mindset. One key ingredient was a driving force for victory and continues to be the number one guarantor of a successful well-lived life: Grit.

What does it mean to have grit? Grit is defined as: firmness of mind or spirit: unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger. The same Grit of the greatest generation flows through the veins of our veterans and accurately describes the ideals of the DVB Spirit.

The construction industry continues to prove itself as one of most challenging industries today. Every day is a battle- a battle for creation. It's the blood, sweat and tears that construct the things Americans see every day. Instead of seeing obstacles as a deterrent, DVB uses it to sharpen their skills and character. Whether military or civilian, employees choose to step up and ban together to accomplish something greater than themselves.

The lessons learned from history and the construction industry are tangible- all people can contribute, roll up their sleeves, work hard and collectively achieve great things.

DVB is making a statement to the world.  This is their promise to its employees, the building industry and the commUNITY to continue to raise the standard of service and commitment to their core values.  DVB will be steadfast in uncertain times, grounded in their resolve, and dedicated to the greater good.

As DVB unrolls its new ad campaign, the landscape of the community will start to become canvases of art, promoting the can-do spirit of DVB Employees through fence panels, magazine ads and pole banners. As they highlight their greatest asset, their people- they hope the campaign message can strike a chord after the very challenging year the whole world has faced. Regardless of military affiliation, economic status, race, gender or occupation- everyone has the ability to become greater through practicing grit. This campaign is created in honor of veterans and all the inspirational people throughout history that have made and continue to have the courage to overcome.

A year later, what was once a quest for a tagline has now turned into DVB's new battle cry:

Grit Leads To Greatness.
