Easton, Md. – July 27, 2020 – Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB), the region’s only commercial construction firm dedicated to bringing employment to U.S. Armed Forces Veterans, announced it has been hired to construct a viewing platform for Pickering Creek Audubon Center in Easton, Maryland.

Pickering Creek Audubon Center is a 400-acre working farm and educational center open to the public 365 days a year. Home to over 200 bird species, Pickering Creek is a successful partnership between Audubon Maryland-DC and the Chesapeake Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society.

The 900 square foot viewing platform with tower is an all wood construction project, with recycled PVC deck boards. Located roughly one mile through trails from the Center itself, the viewing platform will be handicap accessible to the first deck.

The new meadow and wildflower trail and viewing platform will highlight meadow and shrub meadow habitats at Pickering Creek Audubon Center. The platform will showcase the importance of large meadows as a habitat, giving users a clear view of the habitat. It will feature an interpretive panel that is 10 feet long by 2 feet wide which highlights the most important birds and wildflowers to be seen in this habitat. From the viewing platform the trail links to existing trails that go around an existing complex of shallow freshwater wetlands created through an earlier recreational trails project.
